He will live in the hearts of people as a coryphaeus singer. Born in Tbilisi in 1915 in a family of singer, Reshid Behbudov entered Railway College in 1933. He was director of Azerbaijan State Philharmonic between the years 1946 and 1956, and Azerbaijan State Concert Assembly between the years 1957-1959. He was a soloist of Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theatre named after M.F. Akundov between the years 1953 and 1960 as well. He was awarded People’s Artist of the USSR in 1959, Hero of Socialist Labor in 1980. Prominent Azerbaijani singer and public man Rashid Behbudov was also awarded by several countries. Great singer died in Moscow on June 9, 1989.
