29.7.2013

The next time you order a Chinese dinner, you might want to pay a little extra attention to your fortune cookie. For one man in Massachusetts, the message inside the humble folded pastry led him to hit the jackpot with a state lottery win.

While having dinner with his wife, William Johnson of Southwick, Mass., cracked open his fortune cookie and found a slip of paper reading, “You will soon come into a lot of gold.”

Taking the fortune as a lucky sign, the next day, Johnson was inspired to purchase a $10 Massachusetts Millionaire Mania scratch ticket. After holding onto the ticket for a few days, Johnson scratched the game and discovered he had won a $1 million windfall.
