Azerbaijan's First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Khatai district in the capital Baku to review two newly overhauled orphanage-kindergartens on October 1.

Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov informed the First Lady that the facility, constructed in 1976, was overhauled under a state program on speeding up the socio-economic development of Baku and its suburbs for 2011-2013. The reconstruction work started in 2012.
The facility has staff of about 20 specialists who will look after 230 children in six age groups.
The First Lady and her daughter Arzu Aliyeva then visited the orphanage-kindergarten No.8.
Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov informed the First Lady that the facility occupies a total area of 1.2 hectares.
Several attractions have been installed there for recreation and entertainment of children. The courtyard was covered with greenery.
The two-storey building, which was built in 1977, was overhauled under the mentioned state program.
The reconstruction work at the 220-seat orphanage-kindergarten started in 2012. 49 specialists employed there serve 190 children aged 2 to 6 in 10 groups.
Afterwards, Mehriban Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva opened a new building of the kindergarten named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva in the Khatai district.
The building was constructed in line with the highest standards. The kindergarten has entertainment equipment, including a summer amphitheatre, swings, and a trampoline. Surveillance cameras were installed in the kindergarten as well.
A special corner describing Academician Zarifa Aliyeva's life and activity and projects implemented by the Foundation was created in the lobby of the building.
The facility is designed to serve children in eight groups. It includes bedrooms, a cafeteria, a medical room, entertainment rooms and a teachers' lounge.
The kindergarten has a swimming pool, a sports ground and other rooms for kids' entertainment. The walls of the kindergarten are decorated with pictures of tale characters.
