Lunar eclipse to occur tonight

A lunar eclipse will occur on the night of October 18-19.

Deputy Director of the Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory named after Nasraddin Tusi of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Khidir Mikayilov told that the lunar eclipse will occur on the night of October 18-19 at 02:51 and last till 06:48.

He said that it will be a partial lunar eclipse and will occur in the northern hemisphere of the Earth: “This partial lunar eclipse will be invisible. People can’t observe the phenomenon in Baku.”

Mikayilov said that solar eclipse will occur on November 3: “It will start at 14:06 and last till 19:28. The solar eclipse will be observed in the Atlantic Ocean, Africa and completely in Central Africa. It can be observed in Baku at 17:24 for a short period of time. The disk of the moon will touch the edge of the sun. The sun will darken a bit. Thus solar eclipse will be visible for about 7 minutes. This process will be observed in Baku from 17:24 till 17:31.
