1000 children suffer from diabetes mellitus in Azerbaijan. Director of Endocrinology Center of the Ministry of Health Rauf Jabbarov told journalists that diabetes mellitus type 1 or insulin dependent diabetes is mostly observed among the children in Azerbaijan.
He said that this disease is observed in a severe form in the children and they should be dependent on insulin from the first day: “Sometimes the parents request for diet instead of insulin injection. However, it is impossible, children should undergo insulin-therapy from the first day.”
Jabbarov said that a state program had been adopted on diabetes mellitus in Azerbaijan and expenses are increased year by year. He said shortages of medicines were no longer observed in Baku. Jabbarov expressed his confidence that problems in supplying patients suffering from diabetes with medicines in some regions will be completely solved in the near future.
