Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan arrived in Zagatala to have a meeting with residents affected by the earthquake on May 7 and to get acquainted on measures taken in order eliminate consequences of the earthquake.

The President inspected the area from a helicopter at the epicenter of the earthquake. Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel-General Kamaladdin Heydarov informed President Ilham Aliyev on the impact of the disaster.

The second earthquake occurred on May 7 at 19.15 caused more serious damage.
It was noted that about three thousand houses in Zagatala, Gakh and Balaken either collapsed or were in emergency condition as a result of the earthquake. A large number of social facilities were also severely damaged.

There were major destructions at the epicenter of the earthquake located in the villages Gozbarakh, Mamruh, Zeyem, Mukhakh, Bazaar, Kymyr, Chobankol of Zagatala region, as well as in the villages of Gulluk, Lelepasha of Gakh region.


Then, President Ilham Aliyev arrived in the village Gozbarakh, Zagatala region, located at the epicenter of the earthquake.
The Head of State visited the earthquake affected house resident, a Karabakh war veteran Mahir Sultanov.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that the government will fully support all the families, affected from the earthquake, in place of the collapsed buildings new modern and bigger houses will be built for the residents.
The President also met with the residents of Gozbarakh village.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed that; Azerbaijan government will fully support the victims of the natural disaster.

Then the President arrived in the epicenter of the earthquakelocated in the village of Gulluk, Gakh region.

Chairman of Melioration and Water Economy OJSC Ahmad Ahmadzade informed the President about the earthquake caused devastation and the measures taken for elimination of the consequences.
President Ilham Aliyev has visited Abdullah Mammadov the resident of Gulluk village. He said the residents of the village that in place of the damaged houses, new modern houses will be built.


Then, the meeting was held under the chairmanship of President Ilham Aliyev in the Operational Headquarters, established in Zagatala.

The President gave instructions on elimination of consequences of earthquake, and speedy construction of more spacious and high quality houses taking wishes of the residents into account
President Ilham Aliyev said that for repair works 20 million manat were allocated preliminarily to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Azerbaijani President also gave the appropriate orders on temporary placement of residents affected by the earthquake and provide them with food, health care and other services.

The Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel-General Kamaladdin Heydarov, Interior Minister, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov, head of the Republican Seismological Service Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Gurban Yetirmishli informed the President about consequences of the earthquake and the measures to eliminate its consequences.
