Azerbaijan received the status of observer in the GECF

Azerbaijan has received the status of observer in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
Energy Ministers of the countries of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum elected secretary general of the organization for the next two years, the Iranian representative Hossein Adeli.
"Adele re-elected Secretary General of the GECF for two years" - said in a declaration, announced after the meeting. Acting Secretary General of Iran's representative will perform from January 1, 2016.
As stated in the declaration, the new supervisor of the GECF becomes Azerbaijan.
At the end of the ministerial meeting, it was announced that the next, the 18th ministerial meeting of GECF will be held on November 17, in 2016.
Forum of Gas Exporting Countries united country leads the world in the export of natural gas. The organization was founded in 2001 in Tehran, established legally - December 23, 2008 in Moscow, where energy ministers of the participating countries adopted the charter of the forum and signed an intergovernmental agreement.
Participants of the GECF are Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. Iraq, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman and Peru participate in it as observers. GECF headquarters is located in Doha, Qatar.
