Azerbaijan, Jordan to discuss strengthening of bilateral cooperation

Azerbaijan and Jordan will discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations during the visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Jordan, Atef Tarawneh, Jordanian Ambassador to Baku Mohammad Nassar Ibrahim al-Habashneh told Trend on May 8.

The visit is scheduled for May 9, according to the ambassador. The diplomat noted that the speaker will take part in the opening ceremony of the Islamic Solidarity Games.

The opening of the Games will be held in Baku on May 12 and they will last until May 22.

The Jordan Kingdom relates to Azerbaijan as reliable economic and political ally. Jordan repeatedly voiced intention to activate ties with Azerbaijan, which is the leading country in South Caucasus.

Amman and Baku also have ambitious plans to expand their cooperation in education, culture and other fields to serve the interests of their peoples.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, the trade turnover between Jordan and Azerbaijan for the first quarter of 2017 amounted to more than $3.62 million.
