The lowest temperature of the 110 years in Baku was recorded yesterday. Senior hydrologist of the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Asif Verdiyev told that the north-west wind that started on February 1 lasted on February 2, the maximum speed of the wind reached 28-33 meters in Baku and Absheron peninsula.The minimum temperature in Baku and Absheron peninsula was -5.5 C. -5.2 C was last recorded in Baku and Absheron peninsula in 1937.

Due to heavy snowfall and blizzard in Azerbaijan’s territory, the number of buses in Baku has been reduced by 3 times. Transport Ministry’s spokesman Namig Hasanov says about 720 buses have been put into routes today in the city. Let us say for comparison that about 2300-2400 buses work every day in the capital. The buses mainly operate in the central and lower (not mountainous) parts of the city.

Photographer Lennette Newell has created a bizarre exhibit featuring naked models being covered with body paint to look just like wild animals. Newell’s daring pictures show models posing covered in paint as zebras, elephants, baboons and cheetahs next to their real life counterparts.
