Kangarli city
Kangarli is located between Babek and Sharur regions. It weas founded as a region on March 19, 2004. It has borders with Iran in northwest, Armenia in north and northeast. The area makes 711.86 км². Centre is Givrag settlement. The area of region consists of Daralayaz mountain chain and Kangarli plain. The highest peak is Kechaltapa Mountain (2744 m). Climate is continental – very hot in summer, very cold in winter. Lizbirt, Jahri and Araz rivers flow through the region. The region is mainly agricultural region. Plants are presented basically by semidesertic and mountain kinds (bushes, grasses, rare trees). Besides, tobacco, grape, grain-crops, vegetable water melon and melon are grown here. There are man y ancient monments I this region, as in other places of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic: Chalkhangala barrows, artificial caves, as well Galajig, Govurgala, Damlama, Gulamlitapa, Balatapa settlements. The monuments which have remained since later periods:Jame mosque in Khok village (XVIII century) and bath in Shahtakhty village (XIX century). There are 1 settlement and 10 villages in the region.
